Precor AMT – The Ultimate All-In-One Jack of all Cardio

The great thing about going to a gym is the versatility of all of the equipment. Within a single space, you have a huge variety of equipment to get just the workout you want. On any given day you can get your heart rate up with a jog on the treadmill, work your glutes on the stair stepper, do a stand-up power ride on an upright bike, or jump on an elliptical for a low-impact cardio workout. Within the space of a week, you can easily use all this equipment as part of your workout.

As you seek to outfit your home gym with the equipment you need to reach your fitness goals, you can easily see the value of each of these pieces of equipment; however, space, upkeep, and investment are likely making you choose one piece over another. But wait! What if you could have all of these activities without changing equipment? You can with the Precor Adaptive Motion Trainer® or more commonly called the AMT®.  It delivers the highest level of versatility of any single piece of cardio equipment found in a health club.

With its innovative design and patented Open Stride™ technology*, you’ll be able to get the maximum cross-training benefit without having to jump from machine to machine. Similar to how Precor created a brand new category 20+ years ago with the introduction of the elliptical, the AMT is a prime example of Precor’s continued ability to create revolutionary products and drive innovation. Precor once again created a new category of fitness equipment with this low-impact cardio machine that can target specific muscle groups for an all-body workout. With a fully adjustable stride length, you’re able to change the motion using only your body to help you burn calories fast.

Five Pieces of Equipment in One

The AMT offers five unique ways to change exercise resistance to get the total-body workout you’re looking for—all without having to step off it. Most pieces of cardio equipment offer one or two functional ways to exercise with very little variety. However, the more ways you can change the exercise on a piece of equipment, the better it functions as a cross trainer—which is exactly what the AMT is.

Here are the components you can change on traditional cardio equipment compared with those on the AMT:

Not only can you do all of these movements on the AMT without having to leave its foot pedals, you can also incorporate the same movements as a stair stepper or a stair climber. If you’re not sure how this works, continue reading or go try one for yourself at your local Precor Authorized Dealer.

With minimal adjustments, you’ll be able to quickly go through the motions of all of these five cardio products:

  • Standing with your feet on the foot pedals, pump your legs up and down with your hands on the sides. Start with a stepping motion as if you’re on a stair stepper.
  • Stride forward a little bit and you’re doing the climb motion as if you’re on a stair climber.
  • By increasing your stride length a little more, you’ll be doing the elliptical motion. If you change the step height to increase the incline, you’ll be replicating the Precor elliptical with CrossRamp motion.
  • Lengthen your stride and you’ll be in a jog or an all-out run as if you’re on a treadmill.
  • Lean forward slightly and create a shallow stride and you’ll be replicating a standing sprint in an upright bike.

Right there, you can see how the AMT replaces five pieces of cardio equipment. The Precor AMT is the first—and only—piece of cardio equipment on the market that allows you to seamlessly change your exercise without your feet even touching the floor.

If you’re looking to bring your gym experience home, your investment could be upwards of $40,000 if you are incorporating all those individual professional pieces of equipment. Even if you don’t go with the top-of-the-line home equipment, you’re looking at $10,000 to $15,000 for middle-of-the-road fitness equipment to replicate the motions you are getting for the cost of a single commercial-quality AMT.

The versatility of the AMT brings the biggest bang for its buck, not just in terms of financial investment, but also for the fact that anyone in your family—regardless of their size or fitness level—can reach their fitness goals on this one piece of equipment.

Burn More with HIIT on the AMT

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has proven to not only be one of the most popular workouts this decade, but also one of the most effective. With the AMT’s versatility and flexibility, it’s no surprise that you’ll get an exceptional HIIT workout when you perform it on this piece of equipment. Plus, the AMT provides a smooth and non-impact environment to help save your joints.

Precor and its team of fitness experts have designed structured HIIT workouts specifically for the AMT. Alternating short, intense work intervals with recovery intervals of varying lengths, incorporating high intensity interval training into your fitness routine will help increase health, fitness, and performance.

All AMTs comes preloaded with suggested HIIT workouts, to help you focus on weight loss, push performance, intervals, hill climbs, and more. Plus, you can find a full variety of workout recommendations on the Precor Resource Center at precor.com. Workouts include the AMT 15/15 Challenge, AMT Tabatas – 4 minutes to fitness, AMT Superset workouts, and so much more. The AMT isn’t just for a stellar cardio workout, though. Balancing on the foot pedals, you can do lunges, squats, and even the splits. It acts similar to a Bosu ball in engaging your core to do these stretches and calisthenics.

Built to Keep Going…and Going…and Going

If you were to incorporate the five pieces of equipment that the AMT replicates, you wouldn’t only have to find space for all those pieces, you’d also have to service them. With the AMT, you have one piece of equipment to take care of and lucky for you, it’s built to last. Here’s proof:

  • Straps Made of Kevlar: our AMT straps are made with the same material as bulletproof vests and were tested for the equivalent of 280K miles without breaking.
  • Four-Step Powder Coating: the AMTs are coated with a four-step process to inhibit rust to make sure your equipment lasts as long as possible without showing signs of wear and tear.
  • Lifetime Warranty on Frames and Welds plus 10-Year In-Home Warranty: We’re proud of our reputation for designing and making durable and quality equipment. That’s why we confidently offer one of the best warranties available for fitness equipment.
