Precor online has established a flat fee for purchases of fitness equipment through Precor online. Precor uses certified installers who are authorized to assemble Precor equipment. Precor provides the training to its authorized dealers, installers, and servicers for proper installation and maintenance. As part of your installation, our local authorized dealers and installers will provide pre and post-delivery service.

Precor always recommends professional assembly, however, we have created video tutorials for more information on how to assemble your Precor Elliptical or Treadmill if you choose to do-it-yourself. Depending on which product you purchased and where you live, your new Precor fitness equipment should arrive within two to four weeks after you place your order through Precor online. To review our delivery and installation details, click here.

Once Precor has received your order and processed your order, we will ship your equipment from our Precor warehouse to a local certified agent who specializes in delivery and installation of Precor fitness equipment.The installer will call you soon after receiving your equipment from Precor.They will set up a date and time to install your equipment.The installer will arrive with your equipment on the date and time agreed upon by you.The installer will place, assemble and test the equipment in the room of your choice.All cartons and packaging will be removed from your home after assembly.Most appointments require one to two hours, depending upon the equipment purchased and where the equipment will be installed. More time may be needed for certain models or if the equipment has to be disassembled to fit through doorways.

You can expect to have your equipment installed in your room of choice in about 3-4 weeks, after you place your order on Precor online. However, this can vary depending upon your location, availability for installation, weather conditions and holidays.

Below are the details for the return policy for purchases made through Precor Online.  • Before-Your-Order-Ships Cancellation: You may cancel your order for a full refund at any time before your equipment is shipped from our warehouse. Equipment generally ships within three business days from the day you place your order, Monday-Friday. To cancel your order, contact a Precor representative to discuss. • Once-Your-Order-Has-Shipped Cancellation: If you cancel your order after it has shipped from our warehouse, but prior to delivery and installation to you, we will refund the cost of the equipment, but not the cost of shipping. To cancel your en route order, you must contact a Precor representative to discuss. • After Delivery Return: We are unable to accept returns after the product has been delivered to you or installed. If there is an out-of-box problem or an operating issue occurs during installation, the installer will fix the issue or a service technician will be dispatched to your home at no cost to you. The warranty specifications are included in the Owner’s Manual supplied with the equipment upon purchase and begin on the invoice date of the original purchase. The warranty extends only to the original purchaser of the equipment and is non-transferable. For Precor equipment to be covered under warranty, it must be purchased either directly from Precor or an Authorized Precor Dealer. Precor equipment carry the warranty that was in effect on the date of manufacture and applies only against manufacture defects discovered within the warranty period. Please refer to the warranty information that came with your unit. If you no longer have your product documentation, you can find information on your warranty here. If you purchased from a Precor Authorized Dealer retail store or a retail Dealer’s website, contact the Dealer to review the warranty status of your Precor equipment. 

Precor home products are intended for use in a home only.  The warranty is void if they are used in a non-residential environment, and/or installed in a country other than where sold.

You can register your Precor equipment with the dealer that you purchased your the equipment from. 

No. The Precor warranty covers failures due to defects in materials or workmanship of the equipment itself. Catastrophic environmental failures, such as flooding and fires, are not covered under the scope of our warranty, but may be subject to other types of insurance, such as home owners or renters insurance.

If your Precor equipment has been exposed to a catastrophic environmental failure, we recommend you immediately cease using the equipment until it has been fully inspected.

Replacement parts purchased through Precor dealer or directly through Precor can be replaced under warranty one time within one year of purchase. There is no labor warranty on replacement parts.

The primary difference between home and commercial equipment is the engineering and construction to ensure reliability and performance under different use conditions. Precor commercial equipment is designed to withstand near constant use in facilities, while home equipment is built to withstand use in a home setting. Home equipment also features more user amenities and individual-based programming such as User IDs, workout logs and safety features. Home equipment is also generally smaller and weighs less than our commercial models.With so many different models to choose from, I encourage you to review our home fitness equipment option guide.  It includes details on the differences between the product lines, product categories, and consoles.  

The serial number on your equipment will help you determine when your Precor fitness equipment was manufactured.

First locate your serial number.  It is usually located at the base of your equipment.

The serial number will be either be 10 or 13 characters.

For those products that include a 10-digit serial number, count three digits from the left, to identify the year it was manufactured.  

For those products that include a 13-digit serial numbers, count five digits to the right

The month of manufacture will be represented by a letter, i.e. “A” equals January and “L” represents December.

The next two digits to the right are the date, and the next two numbers to the right past the date are the year the equipment was manufactured.

For example, the date of manufacture for serial number ABCDG05170001 would be July 05, 2017

• G = July
• 05 = day of the month
• 17 = year

The answer depends on which piece of equipment you purchase.On the Adaptive Motion Trainer (AMT) and Elliptical Fitness Crosstrainer (EFX), you'll be at the highest position when the foot pedals are level with each other and the ramp angle is at its highest position (40 degrees on the EFX, and Level 5 on the AMT with Open Stride).  Based on those positions and the max user height in the home use the following to determine the recommended ceiling height:   AMT with Open Stride – when the pedals are level the user is at the highest point with their feet 17” from the ground at Level 5 (worst case position).  EFX – at 40 degree incline and the pedals level, the user is about 17” from the ground.  So it would be similar to the AMT with Open Stride. Treads – at 15% incline, the user is about 17” from the ground.  So it would be similar to the EFX and AMT.  Bikes are not a problem. Climber – the user is 13” from the ground.    Assuming 3” of head clearance and a max user height of 6’ 3” tall (75”), the recommended minimum ceiling heights would be:   AMT, EFX and Treads:  17” + 3” + 75” = 95” (7’ 11”) Climber:  13” + 3” + 75” = 93” (7’ 7”)   For every inch taller than a 6’ 3” person, add 1” to the minimum ceiling height.   Generally speaking, if the home has 9’ ceilings minimum, then all users would have no problem using our cardio equipment.

Precor equipment is made for use in “normal” indoor controlled environment conditions and are not intended for use outdoors or in an uncontrolled environment, such as a garage, enclosed porch, or unfinished basement.

Precor equipment calculates caloric consumption from a proprietary algorithm based on an average profile developed in conjunction with the American College of Sports Medicine. Several variables determine the formula, including weight, speed, incline setting and torque. 

Since people burn calories at different rates, it is impossible to create accurate calorie burn rates without using sophisticated and sensitive monitoring equipment. Therefore, the calorie burn rate shown on the console fits an average profile. The actual accuracy of the results depends on how close you are to the average profile. These results should be used as a benchmark and not as an absolute measurement.

Yes.  Your product documentation has recommended basic preventative maintenance that will promote years of trouble-free use of your Precor equipment. Some basic procedures that should be performed are:   Ellipticals: After each usage, clean the display with a damp cloth. Every couple of weeks, clean the wheels and ramp with water or a diluted all-purpose cleaner. On a quarterly basis, perform a complete cleaning under the front and rear covers. Treadmills: After each usage, clean the display with a damp cloth. Carefully vacuum under the hood (front cover) at least once a month.    

Precor suggests using Simple Green® for cleaning your fitness equipment. The recommended dilution is 1 part Simple Green to 30 parts of water. Do not spray directly on the equipment. Spray the solution on a clean lint-free, cloth before applying to the equipment. 

No.  Neither our home or commercial cardio consoles have the ability to change out consoles after purchase.

Due to the mechanical nature of exercise equipment, some degree of noise can occur during use.

The telemetry (wireless) heart rate system depends on a strong, clear signal being presented from the chest strap transmitter to the receiver inside the equipment console. To present a clear signal,  position the chest strap snugly against your body. Moist skin helps the transmitter strap make good contact, so perspiration or even dabbing a bit of water onto your skin may help. When you first begin using the heart rate strap, lean in close to the equipment console for a few seconds to allow the receiver to pick up the signal. Once the console has a lock on the signal, you can step back to a normal exercise position and begin your workout. If the equipment has touch heart rate grips, you should not touch them while using the chest strap, as this will override the telemetry heart rate system. If the chest strap is several years old, it is possible that the battery in the strap has lost its charge.  Finally, wireless heart rate signals are susceptible to outside interference from other signals present in the area. Likely items that may cause such interference include wireless internet devices, cell phones or cell phone towers, and wireless dog fences.

Touch heart rate readings depend on a strong, clear pulse to be read from your hands. To generate a clear signal, gently grasp the sensors. Do not tightly squeeze the touch sensors, as this can negatively affect the pulse in your hands and make it more difficult to get an accurate reading. Use of the touch heart rate sensors while exercising at higher intensity is not recommended for reasons of safety and accuracy. The sensors can provide better readings if your hands are warm and moist. If you have difficulty getting a reading right away, try again after a few minutes of exercising. Typically, exercise will cause most people’s hands to become warm and moist. Keep in mind that the touch heart rate feature may not be accurate for every user or at every speed. Touch heart rate may also be affected by an individual’s unique physiology. For example, some individuals have a stronger pulse in their hands compared to others. Individual results may vary. Touch heart rate readings are intended for reference only, and the touch heart rate feature is not a medical device. Proper use of a chest strap may help to improve accuracy.

The treadmill belt sliding over the deck surface can, in certain environments, generate a potential of static electricity. In general, this static potential is discharged through the treadmill’s frame grounding. However, in particularly cold, dry environments, residual static potential may remain. This behavior is most evident in the winter, particularly in colder areas. The most effective solution is to raise the relative humidity in the area of the treadmill with a humidifier. If you continue to experience static shocks, it’s possible that the belt is being insulated from the frame. In cases of continued static shock, Precor recommends that you call the Precor Authorized Dealer that you purchased the treadmill from to have a Precor Authorized Service Technician examine your treadmill, or call Precor Technical Support at 800.665.4404. 

The password for a Precor treadmill can be entered by pressing a series of keys in sequence. Several different passwords have been used including:  1-2-3-4  Incline Down - Speed Down - Speed Up If neither of these passwords work for you, please contact Precor Customer Support at 800.786.8404 or support@precor.com.

It is possible to experience forefoot numbness while exercising. However, you could alleviate or even eliminate the symptoms by positioning your feet flat on the pedals, as opposed to lifting your heel with each stride.  Please consult your physician or other healthcare professional before using any exercise equipment or if you are experiencing forefoot numbness.

This may happen if you leave your elliptical powered on for extended periods of time without being used, lets say 50 days or so.

To solve the lose of resistance, you'll need to unplug your elliptical and plug it back in.  This will allow the software to restart and restore the resistance.

The Precor elliptical stride length is approximately 28.25 inches (2.356 feet) and it will take approximately 2241 strides to equal 1 mile. 

To convert the number of stride to miles, take the number of strides on the display and divide by 2241. To convert strides to kilometers, divide the stride count by 1392.5. 

*Note: the stride length varies by model and CrossRamp angle.

No, Precor does not sell refurbished, pre-owned, or used equipment.

Precor serial numbers are usually on a white label below a black bar code (similar in appearance to a UPC code). Depending on the date of manufacture, the serial number is an alphanumeric combination that is either 10 or 13 characters long. This serial number is in different locations depending on the type of equipment you own. For Treadmills: The serial number is on the label near the power cord entry and on the frame under the left rear of the treadmill. Certain older treadmills will have the serial number on the center cross beam under the deck or on the hood (or under the hood on the frame). For Ellipticals: The serial number can be located either at the rear of the equipment near the on/off switch on a white sticker with a bar code, or on the frame located under the hood. For Bikes: The serial number is either on the bottom of the frame (viewing of this requires laying the equipment on its side) or on the rear of the frame near the floor. For Stair Climbers: The serial number is either on the bottom of the foot pedals or on the left front cover near the on/off switch.

An error code is a message from the internal electronics indicating the location of a potential issue. However, the error code is only one piece of the troubleshooting process. 

The recommended course of action is to contact Precor Technical Support at 888.665.4404. Any information you can provide about the circumstances surrounding the error code, i.e. how the machine was being used before the error, any unusual behavior the machine exhibited, etc., will be beneficial.

You’ll need the following information when you call in to Precor customer service:

• Precor equipment serial number
• The nature of the issue such as the error message, symptoms, description of the issue, etc.
• Your name, who you purchased your equipment from, address, and phone number.
