I got he in a search to optimize this rack for my use. My worksight gym has this rack and match benches. My issue is much the same as other commentors. The pin spacing doesn't allow for precise allignment with my body. When bench with safety bars, the safety in the lowest configuration is 3" above my fully expanded and arched chest. When Squating the rack hooks have a high lip, so much so that I to raise up on my toes to clear it but lowering the hook would force me to bend over to get under the bar and unrack with a significantly bent back. I got here looking for some alternate pins being that the official ones are double pins.
Using this power rack regularly at Anytime Fitness for squats, bench, deadlift, pull-ups; very sturdy, love the platform insert; for pull-ups, i can hang fully stretched (I am 6 feet); BUT the 4" adjustments are a real pain; for squats, it's either bending down significantly to get under the bar or un-racking and re-racking on your toes; for bench with safeties, same issue that other reviewer pointed out; bench without safeties or you don't get a full range of motion; given this design flaw, i would never buy the rack for my home gym, and Precor is not competitive with any of the major home gym players - see Westside spacing or at least 2" throughout the rack
I love everything about this half rack except for when I use the bar catch for flat benching Specifically, I use the precor adjustable bench with the precor half rack for Flat benching. When I perform flat bench, the lowest placement of the bar catch on the half rack along with the height of the super bench on flat position prevent the barbell from fully lower to my chest. Thus, in order to perform a proper flat bench press, I cannnot use the bar Catch With the half rack, which is a safety concern for bench pressing alone. Thank you
